Guttering in the Cotswolds

We supply, repair and install guttering across the Cotswolds — cast iron, copper, zinc and seamless aluminium rainwater systems for stone cottages, listed buildings, farmhouses, barn conversions and contemporary homes.

Every project starts with a site survey so the profile, material and fixing detail suit the building rather than the catalogue.

Cast iron guttering on a Cotswold stone property

Guttering for Cotswold stone properties

Cotswold stone elevations, stone-slate roofs and deep eaves detailing all influence which rainwater system is appropriate. On listed and conservation-area buildings we specify cast iron half-round, ogee and ornamental moulded profiles so replacement work reads as original.

On unlisted period homes and sympathetic extensions, powder-coated aluminium in a heritage colour gives a similar line with far less maintenance. We survey the property before recommending either route.

  • Cast iron half-round, ogee and ornamental moulded profiles
  • Copper and zinc for principal elevations
  • Seamless aluminium in heritage colours
  • Ornamental hopper heads and cast iron downpipes
  • Restoration and repair of existing cast iron
  • Fascias, soffits and copings

Replacement, repair and full installation

Most Cotswold enquiries fall into three groups: failed or leaking cast iron on a period property, tired plastic guttering that owners want replaced with something better, and new installations on extensions, barn conversions and new builds.

We supply and install all three. Where existing cast iron is sound, repair and redecoration is usually the cheaper and more sympathetic option, and we will say so at survey rather than sell a full replacement.

Listed buildings and conservation areas

Much of the Cotswolds sits within conservation areas, and many properties are listed. Replacing cast iron with plastic on a listed building normally needs listed building consent and is often refused.

We work to conservation-officer guidance and can provide the profile, material and finish details a planning or listed building consent application needs.
