Aluminium guttering, installed and replaced.

Most plastic systems fitted in the 1990s and 2000s are now at the end of their life. The symptoms are familiar: joints weeping onto the wall below, gutters sagging between brackets, brittle sections cracking when a ladder touches them, and green staining down the render or stone.

Patching rarely pays. Replacing the run in aluminium costs more on the day and removes the problem for a generation, usually including new brackets, outlets and downpipes so the whole system is hung to a correct, consistent fall.

We strip and dispose of the old system, check the fascia and timber behind it, repair or replace where needed, and install the new gutter with the correct bracket spacing for the roof area it serves.

Seamless aluminium guttering is rolled on site, on the day, from a continuous coil. The machine forms the profile to the exact measured length of each elevation, so a forty foot frontage is one single piece of gutter with nothing between the two stop ends.

Every joint in a gutter is a future leak. Sectional plastic systems rely on rubber seals that harden and shrink, which is why the staining on a wall almost always starts directly under a union. Removing the joints removes the failure point, and it gives an unbroken shadow line along the eaves that looks markedly cleaner on a long modern elevation.

Outlets, internal and external angles and stop ends are formed and sealed as part of the run. Seamless suits straight, uninterrupted elevations best; on a heavily broken roofline with many returns, an extruded or cast aluminium system can be the better answer, and we will say so.

All of our aluminium is finished in polyester powder coat. The coating is applied electrostatically to a cleaned and pre-treated section, then baked on, so it bonds to the metal rather than sitting on top of it like paint. It does not flake, blister or need repainting, and the colour holds against UV far longer than a moulded plastic gutter will.

The full RAL range is available, matt, satin or gloss. The most requested finishes locally are heritage black on Cotswold stone and rendered cottages, anthracite grey RAL 7016 on new builds and extensions to match modern windows, and a colour matched to existing fascias or joinery where only part of a property is being renewed.

Coastal and exposed sites can take a marine grade coating specification. On listed buildings and in conservation areas we will agree the profile and finish with the conservation officer before anything is ordered.
